As an InSpanglish Chat Partner, your job is to simply have a conversation with the student, only using the language the student is learning. Our goal is for students to feel supported and confident during the chats. Chats may be on a myriad of topics. Therefore, chat partners should be well versed, use open ended questions to manage the chat, and ensure a smooth chat. English/Spanish Tutors
As an InSpanglish Tutor, your responsibility is to assist students who are struggling with grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Tutors should provide a supportive learning environment and review content with students in a relatable manner. While some students may be prepared and have specific questions, others may be overwhelmed and not know where they need help. Therefore, tutors should informally assess students and plan sessions based on their strengths and weaknesses and what they are learning or want to learn. A tutor may also help students develop study strategies to help improve their academic performance. At the end of a tutoring session, tutors will complete a short evaluation of the student and upload it, along with the recording, to a specific location. Tutors should encourage, support, and motivate students. Students should always leave their session feeling as though they learned something.
